# Pensight

> Pensight is a platform where coaches, consultants, and other creators sell their services and digital products from a single customizable web page. They set up what they sell (live sessions, courses, downloads, etc.), share one link, and Pensight handles scheduling, payments, content delivery, and follow-up marketing. Their buyers purchase from that page and get a lightweight account to access what they bought.

## What the platform is for

A creator (Pensight calls them an "expert") signs up and builds a public profile page that works like a link-in-bio storefront. On that page they list the things they sell, called "offerings". When someone buys, Pensight collects the payment through Stripe, handles the scheduling or content access, and pays the creator out. Pensight also gives creators tools to grow: an email list, broadcasts, automations, contacts, and an affiliate program.

There are two kinds of users. The **creator/expert** builds the page, creates products, manages a calendar, runs marketing, and receives payouts. The **buyer/client** lands on the creator's page, buys something, and gets a limited account used mainly to view orders, chat with the creator, and access purchased content. A client can later upgrade their own account to become a creator.

## Things a creator can sell (product types)

- **1:1 Session**: A bookable video call of a set length and price. The buyer picks a time from the creator's availability; the call happens inside Pensight in the browser. Payment is usually authorized when the booking is made.
- **Coaching Bundle**: A package of multiple 1:1 sessions sold together, with a remaining-session count tracked per buyer.
- **Group Session**: A webinar or workshop on specific scheduled dates; buyers get a ticket for a date.
- **Group Program**: A multi-session cohort program for a group of buyers, with its own group calls and chat.
- **Course**: Pre-recorded structured content organized into chapters and lessons, with optional drip release and progress tracking.
- **Membership**: Recurring or lifetime access to a community feed and content.
- **Digital Product**: A downloadable file or link sold once.
- **Video Q&A**: The buyer submits a question and the creator answers with a video, typically within about a week.

## Where buying and content delivery happen

- Every creator has a public profile page at a URL like `https://pensight.com/x/{their-handle}`, or on their own custom domain. The page holds their photo, headline, links, embedded videos, text blocks, featured reviews, and cards for each offering.
- Buying happens through a checkout flow that opens from an offering card on that page. The buyer signs in (email code), optionally accepts the creator's custom terms, completes product-specific steps (e.g. picking a time for a session), and pays via Stripe.
- After purchase, buyers get email confirmations and calendar invites, join live video calls inside Pensight at the scheduled time, access courses/memberships/downloads, and chat with the creator.

## Session recordings and transcripts

- **Recording** is a long-standing, flagship Pensight feature: live video calls (1:1 and group) can be recorded inside Pensight, and the recordings are available afterwards.
- **Transcription is currently in beta.** It is opt-in per call: the creator chooses whether it is enabled, and whether the finished transcript is shared with the client.
- During a call, spoken words are captured as an ongoing transcript. When the call ends, the transcript is saved and can show up in the related chat thread.
- Transcripts are used both as a record of what was discussed and as input for AI analysis of the session (for example, reviewing how a coaching call went).

## Marketing and growth tools for creators

- **Email list and segments**: Group contacts into audiences.
- **Broadcasts**: One-off email campaigns sent to a segment.
- **Automations**: Drip email sequences triggered by buyer actions.
- **Contacts**: A CRM-style list of buyers and leads.
- **Forms**: Lead-capture and signup forms placed on the page or offerings.
- **Coupons**: Discount codes.
- **Affiliate program**: Creators can run their own affiliate commissions; Pensight also has a platform-wide referral program.
- **Reviews/testimonials**: Buyers leave reviews that creators can feature on their page.

## Payments and plans

- Payments and payouts run through Stripe Connect. Creators onboard a Stripe account, get paid for sales, and can offer installment plans, invoices, and (on paid plans) buy-now-pay-later options like Klarna and Affirm. A 3% transaction fee (which covers Stripe processing) applies on every plan; Pensight charges no extra transaction fee on top of that.
- New creators start with a 7-day free trial of **Pro**. If they upgrade, they stay on Pro (paid monthly or yearly). If they don't upgrade, the account keeps working on a limited **Free** plan instead of being closed — so "Free" is the fallback state after the trial, not a tier you actively pick.
- **Pro** unlocks the full set of features: all product types, marketing and automations, reduced Pensight branding, custom domains, page themes, and accelerated payouts.
- **Business** adds hands-on growth support on top of Pro — dedicated onboarding, a growth manager, course migration help, and 1:1 marketing/product reviews — rather than new product features.

## Command-line interface (CLI)

Pensight has an official CLI (the `@pensight/cli` npm package, run as `pensight`) that lets a creator — or an AI agent acting on their behalf — manage their account from the terminal instead of the web app. After a browser-based login (`pensight auth login`), it can:

- **Manage offerings**: list, get, create, update, publish, and unpublish products (digital products, 1:1 sessions, and video Q&A), and check whether an offering is ready to publish.
- **Upload files**: upload digital product files and reference them when creating a digital item.
- **Run email automations and settings**: create, list, start, stop, and update email automations, check their readiness, and manage the sending address.
- **Audit funnels**: analyze how a free offer leads to a paid offer over a date range.
- **Inspect 1:1 sessions and transcripts**: list past 1:1 sessions and fetch a session transcript as a structured payload for AI analysis.
- **Manage expert files**: read and update private, agent-readable notes/files attached to the account.

It supports `--json` output so other tools and agents can consume the results.
