Just being able to be in proximity to my brother and to simply touch door handles in my house. Being able to share a bathroom with my family and use the same faucet as them. Doing things that I would have never done before. - [Review by Ana S.](https://www.newporthealthcare.com/reviews/review-by-ana-s/): Newport Academy was a wonderful choice for my son. He was a difficult patient but the counselors at Newport were consistent in their care and we achieved positive results. - [Review by Jillian Broeckert](https://www.newporthealthcare.com/reviews/review-by-jillian-broeckert/): I am excited to have Newport Academy as a resource here in MN. There team has been very professional, and great communication. I was able to tour their facility and look forward to working together. - [Review by Kaetlyn B](https://www.newporthealthcare.com/reviews/review-by-kaetlyn-b/): newport is a great place for treatment, the food is very good and they make birthdays very special. most of the staff is super helpful and understanding. the rooms are pretty clean and the beds aren’t too bad, they do have a strict schedule so don’t plan on sleeping in. gracie and james we’re definitely the most helpful people there. the medical team is extremely understaffed and don’t do much to help but other than that i definitely think this is a great place for teens to get the care they need. - [Review by Aiyana Loude](https://www.newporthealthcare.com/reviews/review-by-aiyana-loude/): Newport is a really nice place, it helped me a lot, yes it had its ups and downs, but at the end it helped me learn and evolve as a person. They have really great staff, the staff was sometimes under staffed which made it really hard to go on coping walks. But overall its a really great place to go to to get help. - [Review by Myka](https://www.newporthealthcare.com/reviews/review-by-myka/): I really enjoyed my time at Newport. I was offered plenty of support and therapy options, including speaking with kids my age. My clinical team truely did care about me. Which made my therapy sessions much smoother. I was out before day 80. Food is great, staff are great, care is great. The only thing that could be better is post-discharge. The Alumni program is probably the hightlight of that. After i discharged there was little help from newport with getting me my medication, or even new therapists. Overall, I recomend Newport to struggling teens. - [Review by Lily Chambers](https://www.newporthealthcare.com/reviews/review-by-lily-chambers/): I’ve been here 2 times. Both times I didn’t want to go. The staff are awesome and food is good. It feels like a long time in there but it really helps in the long run. - [Review by Hailey Woods](https://www.newporthealthcare.com/reviews/review-by-hailey-woods/): Hello - [Review by Nathan Jensen](https://www.newporthealthcare.com/reviews/review-by-nathan-jensen/): With my experience with Newport things have been good the conversation with the councilors have been positive and they have tried to help and get my daughter the help she needs to move forward in a positive and healthy manner and to move in a good direction and to understand the path she was on and the path she needs to be on and the difference between the to - [Review by Angela Conner](https://www.newporthealthcare.com/reviews/review-by-angela-conner/): My daughter (15 yrs old) spent just over 3 months at Newport Academy. It was incredibly difficult to send her there, but we were desperate. When your child no longer has a desire to live and is self harming, your options are limited. I was very concerned about sending her to a residential treatment facility due to the stigma and the stories of abuse, unnecessary restraints and using an excessive amount of sedatives. That said, I NEVER had to give any of that a second thought at Newport Academy. There approach is very client driven. If someone goes AWOL, a staff member will simply follow them and engage in a conversation until they can both calmly return to campus. If a client is refusing to participate, they allow that, realizing that the client will become bored and will eventually participate, which is what happened with my daughter. She also developed wonderful relationships with many of the staff members as well as other's in her group (pod.) She spoke of some of the cc (client coordinators, who were with the clients 24/7) as being her mom or dad. She didn't like all of them, but that is to be expected. She was able to participate in many different activities from ropes courses to petting zoos to golf and many many more. I was frequently send pictures of her participating in these activities. Seeing her posing or making a face was so rewarding; I could tell my daughter was climbing out of her pit of despair and depression and was coming back to life. Newport isn't perfect, I don't think a perfect place exists, but when you are out of options as we were, it is an excellent choice. My daughter really liked her clinical team. She had therapists working with her each day. She had access to a therapist any time she wanted to talk, as well as, her scheduled weekly appointments. She participated in DBT and CBT. We, as parents, could e-mail, call or text, her family and individual therapist anytime. Occasionally, this occurred even after business hours, which was so greatly appreciated. My daughter will tell you it was difficult, but I believe it was because we insisted she finish treatment rather than quit and come home. But she will also tell you how she connected with so many people there, and misses many of them. I am so happy to have her home. She is in a much much better place now, than when she left. She is happier, and is participating in life again. Her depression isn't completely gone, I wasn't expecting it to be, but she has skills now to deal with it. Her communication is so much better and she is more herself again. - [Review by Gavin Matheson](https://www.newporthealthcare.com/reviews/review-by-gavin-matheson/): Hello! - [Review by Kirstie Dowrey](https://www.newporthealthcare.com/reviews/review-by-kirstie-dowrey/): Newport made a difference for my son. Carlos Paralta was an amazing support for him and us as a family. - [Review by Renee Voltz](https://www.newporthealthcare.com/reviews/review-by-renee-voltz/): While my insurance wouldn't cover the PHP program, the Newport Academy staff (particularly Monica) was incredibly responsive and extremely supportive in helping me try to work with insurance to get the service covered. I will also note that someone always answered the phone when I called which is a feat in and of itself w/r/t to medical practices in Northern Virginia (esp. mental health). I greatly appreciate the care and support Newport provided! - [Review by Elizabeth Jorgensen](https://www.newporthealthcare.com/reviews/review-by-elizabeth-jorgensen/): The staff is incredibly caring and responsive and work with teens and their families to make a real difference. Parents will feel deeply heard and involved in their child's care. - [Review by Scott Boddie](https://www.newporthealthcare.com/reviews/review-by-scott-boddie-2/): Our entire family, not just our son, benefited from Newport's unique care. I do not know of any other organization that has a system quite like theirs that teaches coping skills along with a treatment team constructed like a hub and spokes that address all the needs of each family member. - [Review by Francine Berg](https://www.newporthealthcare.com/reviews/review-by-francine-berg/): My daughter has been here for almost a month. The staff is great and she's progressing really well. They provide schooling every day. Also lots of excursions and activities which helps her not feel so "locked up." I was out of options and was worrying about her safety. I'm so glad I brought her here. Of course I was fortunate enough that she wanted rehab so I'm sure that's helping a lot with her recovery. For the first time in years, I'm feeling hopeful. - [Review by Vincenza L](https://www.newporthealthcare.com/reviews/review-by-vincenza-l/): I researched Newport Academy on line and was impressed with the different services and therapy offered. The reviews that I read of youg people and how Newport Academy has helped change their life. My son and I did a tour, and met the staff. We both had seperate interviews as to what we were looking for, as we left my son immediately said to me "I want to go there mom, I really like the staff". Here we are several months later and my son loves the people, they are the most welcoming, empathetic, supportive not justfor my sons needs but to support our family and teach us the tools to build strong healthy relationships. My son was able to participate in Horse therapy at Equine and he discovered the love for horses, and confidence that he gained there through the program. He is looking forward to continue his journey at Newport Academy through volunteering and hope to work their as an adult, he wants to empower other young people to push through the difficult stuff because the rewards are for life. As a mother i immediately felt safe to know that my son was coming to a good place because they truly care. I am looking forward to continue our journey with the staff and am excited to see where this journey takes us. I am so grateful to the whole team for what they have helped us achieve. With love ❤️ always. - [Review by jami graber](https://www.newporthealthcare.com/reviews/review-by-jami/): The staff was always kind, courteous and professional. My daughter really loved her therapist, Jen. She connected with her. My daughter had seen other therapists outpatient (not through Newport) but always felt like they were “just doing their jobs” and didn’t “actually care about her.” - [Review by Avery Underell](https://www.newporthealthcare.com/reviews/review-by-avery/): I could not be more grateful for Newport academy. I was at such a point of sadness and depression that I would do anything to get drugs, and I would do anything to not get out of the bed. It got to the point where I wouldn’t get out of my bed for days unend, and at this point my mom didn’t know what to do with me anymore. I had been to countless impatient facilities, and they helped for about the short time of a month, until I moved back on to my harmful behaviors. Newport academy saved my life in so many different and countless ways, I could not be so much more thankful to all of the staff. On July 27th, it will be a year since I discharged from Newport academy. The memories that I made there I wouldn’t trade for the world itself. When I was in such a time of struggle, they knew exactly what to do, and how to handle it. After begging my insurance for more time at Newport academy, I earned more. After Newport academy, they recommended another residential. They knew exactly what I needed and how I needed it. After spending a year in treatment, I could not thank Newport academy enough for the amazing impact that it had on my life. All of the staff at palm hills, Sabrina, faith, michael, Mariah, suzy, Emily, jess, Kathy, and of course so many more staff who made such an amazing impact on my life. The night staff, which is only another amazing aspect of Newport academy, were people you could talk to if you were having late night struggles, or problems sleeping, and even people you could talk to about your day. All of Newport was so welcoming for me and I know that if you choose to send your child to Newport academy, you won’t regret it. - [Review by Austin Beaman](https://www.newporthealthcare.com/reviews/review-by-austin/): I was at the tanglewood house and it was such a great experience the staff always made me feel supported and comfortable it’s always a hit or miss with getting along with other clients but staff try their best to help everyone get along - [Review by Bella Wood](https://www.newporthealthcare.com/reviews/review-by-bella/): Newport academy was probably one of the most accepting places i've ever been. They were super inclusive and were super sensitive with all of my Treatment. The staff they were awesome The staff were awesome and every time I had a bad day They would always be there for me. During my time with newport , I was at A few different locations in orange County california. I really appreciate 11 support.I got while I was there and without Newport I probably would have never recovered. - [Review by Sophia Groves](https://www.newporthealthcare.com/reviews/review-by-sophia/): Before I arrived at Newport academy I was depressed and anxious all the time and I made bad decisions because I wanted to fit in and I wasn’t in a great spot. My mom sent me here and at first I hated it at Newport, I was angry at my parents for sending me here and I thought it wasn’t going to work so I didn’t put in a lot of effort at first but overtime I realized that they were really trying to help me and I started accepting the help. They always pushed me to be myself and to pushed me to come out of my shell and I could not be more grateful for them. I had amazing staff like AM Kat, PM Kat, Maddie, Patrick, Rayleen, Rebecca, and Brynn. They helped me feel comfortable as me and I learned really great skills and I was able to learn how to be open with myself and my parents. We haven’t had any secrets since I got back. I did get moved to another house for reasons that aren’t my fault but I’m glad they did. At Rodger’s where I was before was great but Ranch was amazing!! Tee, Courtney, Leena, Angie, and Wilmur. I was really engaged in all the activities we did like yoga, Kundalini, Cardio, Equine therapy and so much more. I also made a lot of friends, people I could relate to and we formed bonds so quick and it was like we had known each other forever. I still keep in contact with them and I don’t feel the need to fall back into my urges. Overall I’m very glad that I chose Newport as my place to get better - [Review by Ava Schoenfelt (Ava Sophia)](https://www.newporthealthcare.com/reviews/review-by-ava-sophia/): Newport really helped me after being bullied in school. they provided a safe space for me and i was able to find myself again as well as even get a job. i definitely recommend and wish the best for anyone going here! - [Review by G](https://www.newporthealthcare.com/reviews/review-by-g/): newport is such a great and welcoming place! i had a amazing experience. i made so many friends and felt so excepted. i was there for 87 days. within that time i completed so many of my mental health goals. while there, you also go on fun trips weekly. some of the places i went with my house was rock climbing, mini golfing, bowling, the arcade, and so much more! but aside from the fun, there is also so much work that you have to do in order to heal. there is a thing called the discovery binder where you do self discovery and healing worksheets. you also do daily therapy groups and individual sessions. overall it’s a great place. highly recommend - [Review by Carrie Russell](https://www.newporthealthcare.com/reviews/review-by-carrie/): When our daughter first entered Newport Academy, she was struggling significantly with her mental health and attempted suicide in June 2024. We were deeply concerned and felt at a loss for how to help her as a result of not having firm boundaries within our family. - [Review by Mars Hensley](https://www.newporthealthcare.com/reviews/review-by-mars/): i love newport! i was there for 4 months, and every day i felt taken care of and so supported. my favorite staff here were faby, my family therapist, she would sit with me while my world was ending and never leave my side. another staff member was smritii. she was the best CC ive ever met in the world, she was so supportive and kind. so blessed to have had her supporting me. then theres luke, who gave me hope throigh hard times by being so kind and never bullshitting me. next is jess, the alumni person!! she once took me outside during a stressful time even though she didnt have to and made sure i was okay and lifted my mood. she also makes it so easy to keep in touch with staff! MALIK ur next, you just rock. best RS ever. thank you for being there. if you see this, i love you all so much with boundaries. thank you for being apart of my healing journey ❤️❤️❤️ - [Review by Isabella Bonura](https://www.newporthealthcare.com/reviews/review-by-isabella/): I was here about June of 2024 and it wasn't terrible. I was at the Roger's house but had to leave due to multiple incidents regarding my mental health. They really worked with me when I was struggling through my eating disorder. I will always remember Rebecca, Patrick, am Kat and pm Kat, and Sean. I was a hot mess and never got to writing a review. I will remember the special day on my birthday and the private baking session. Yall loved the boyfriend I had at the time (josh) as much as I did. Thank you for everything. Got out of my last residential on July third 2025 (was there for placement don't worry) and am thriving. I love you guys and I didn't forget about you - [Review by Karen Bonura](https://www.newporthealthcare.com/reviews/review-by-karen/): My daughter has been to several mental health facilities over the years, unfortunately, but I would say that this one is the very best of the best! The counselors and nursing staff are especially excellent, and I would recommend this facility wholeheartedly if your child qualifies to be here. - [Review by Isabelle Reeves](https://www.newporthealthcare.com/reviews/review-by-isabelle/): I went to Newport at 15. When I was admitted I absolutely did not want to be there and had no plans in get better. Long story short my stay at Newport gave me hope for my future. I’ve been able to become the person I’ve always wanted to be. Dr. Duna was an amazing family therapist. Most of the CCs were great and happy to help us. We were always busy doing activities, group sessions, going to meetings, and going on outings. I know everyone’s experience is different but I’m glad mine was totally worth it. However, it is important to remember the program won’t work if you don’t put in the effort and actually do want to make a change in your life. - [Review by Stacy Bodow](https://www.newporthealthcare.com/reviews/review-by-stacy/): As we approach the 1 year anniversary of my child coming home from Newport, I reflect on how different our lives look now then they did a year ago. She has grown and healed in ways that 1 year ago I did not think possible. After trying different therapy, PHP, and IOP programs, we knew we needed something more. Newport gave her/us that. The supports and systems were just what our family needed. Being in a house with other kids who were also struggling in similar ways and just got it created the community and space to do the work. Taking away the phones and social media and replacing them instead with group, skills, empowering activities, and inspiring movies helped clear out the negative chatter and made space to focus on the positive. As parents we felt supported and learned so much. Sending our child to Newport was one of the hardest things we had ever done, and I am so thankful we did. - [Review by Sydney Bragg](https://www.newporthealthcare.com/reviews/review-by-sydney/): After I came home I feel much better like a new side of me was opened and I'm soo grateful - [Review by kylie “ki” Ritch](https://www.newporthealthcare.com/reviews/review-by-kylie-ki/): Creekside is so good I was here twice and it was so amazing , I will never forget Megan now the rs at creekside she was so nice and she was always there for me and also kept me accountable and Megan was there both times when I was there . I will also never forget Sophie me and her always were laughing together and I will never forget that . Also gave he is now / was at gratitude but when I was there the first time he was like a brother and I found it so comforting . I also will never forget Liz because she was there the night I got beat up at Kurt’s and she was also at creekside after that so I got really close with her and she helped me and my mom restore our bond . ( update for Megan I am seeing my dad for the first time since rez on Sunday and I’m so excited ) - [Review by amelia moné](https://www.newporthealthcare.com/reviews/review-by-amelia/): i was there this past spring, and it was overall a great experience! Mark Chowning, Liz Brown, and Jerry Strickland are amazing! Liz really helped start my family and I on the right path, we are forever grateful for her. The CC’s Morgan, Caroline and Kat are so kind, supportive, and amazing staff. Mark is one of the best men I’ve met, he truly cares about the clients and their treatments and is just a good human. Residential can be scary, but if future clients are in these people’s care they are in good hands. :) - [Review by L E](https://www.newporthealthcare.com/reviews/review-by-l-e/): So grateful to have Newport Academy (and Newport Healthcare) as a resource for people in need of quality, supportive mental health care! - [Review by Jack Nourse](https://www.newporthealthcare.com/reviews/review-by-jack-nourse/): I stayed here in 2023 Summer, and it changed my life in a way where I could enjoy life again. One of my favorite parts of Newport were the staff, because of their positivity and how they treated me was amazing and made me feel safe again. I grew as a person while I was there. Thank you Newport. - [Review by Wyatt Engom](https://www.newporthealthcare.com/reviews/review-by-wyatt-engom/): During my stay, I think my favorite thing about the program was the staff you could really tell they care about their job and what they do. There were also resourceful groups all day stuff that really helped and kept me busy. My favorite group was the MMA group with James I also really enjoyed lifting weights at trek. - [Review by Elias Moreno](https://www.newporthealthcare.com/reviews/review-by-elias-moreno/): Newport port townsend. this residential facility was by far my best mental health treatment experience, the staff are good people, the facility stays fairly clean (though in one of the pods there is a constant smell), the nursing team is nice as well though some are disrespectful. the groups can be somewhat out of focus but are still helpful. They dont use the 12 steps but they have AA and recovery groups. there is also MMA which is extremely fun, they teacher there is one of the best people ive ever met. the food is decent, kinda limited in options but ok overall beware you will eat a LOT of chicken though. - [Review by Hannah Shamei](https://www.newporthealthcare.com/reviews/review-by-hannah-shamei/): I discharged from Hillside January 2023 for anxiety and depression, and I genuinely believe that Newport Academy saved my life. The staff made it as easy as possible every step of the way. From admitting to the program, helping me settle in, to aftercare, Newport honestly supports you for life. While there, my amazing clinical team Betsy(family therapist), Allyson(Individual therapist), and Brenda(Counselor) really gave me what I need helped and set me up for independence and success in the real world. As for aftercare, I am still in contact with my Alumni Program Lead Jessica who has continuously checked up on me, giving me amazing support and new opportunities to advocate for mental health and help others which I have taken. I am now part of the Alumni Advocacy program and can say that I am very pleased with my experience. Thank you Newport - [Review by Mattie Howes](https://www.newporthealthcare.com/reviews/review-by-mattie-howes/): I discharged from Newport August 2023 and let me just say, it was a life changer for me. If I could give Newport (Orange, California) a 10 out of 10 stars, I would. I went to Newport not knowing what to expect. Turns out, it was THE BEST experience ever. I started at Newport severely depressed, with high anxiety, SH, SI, struggles with eating, sleep, trust issues, and family issues. Words cannot express how grateful and appreciative I am to all the staff. The first day I stepped in the door I felt an energy that was so uplifting and comforting. I was able to make so many new strong and healthy connections, especially with the staff. It is clear that the staff at Newport are working there because they genuinely care and it shows through their attitude and interactions. Shoutout to the Hillside RS, Benji Benitez, all the Hillside CC's (Amber, Bre, Bri, Bry, Jess, Julia, Sierra, Virg) and the BEST clinical team I could ever ask for (Betsy Fitzpatrick, Brenda, and Kristin). I have never felt so validated, supported, safe, and cared for in my whole life. The amount of support I got was above and beyond. The staff were always so kind, caring, supportive, motivational, patient with everyone and so on top of things. I learned how to advocate for myself, set boundaries, and so many new skills I continue to use as I move forward in my journey. Thank you so much to the Hillside staff for helping me start a new chapter in my life that I can look back on and see how far I've come in my recovery. - [Review by Tara Fleming](https://www.newporthealthcare.com/reviews/review-by-tara-fleming/): This facility has a system that works. My family has learned so much and continues to grow with the skills and tools learned from Newport Academy. My child would have been lost without them. The staff is very good. Aftercare is important and Newport also offers that. - [Review by Nikko Sandvick](https://www.newporthealthcare.com/reviews/review-by-nikko-sandvick/): Newport changed my life. Before Newport I was miserable, Newport gave me the tools I needed to better myself in the outside world. (plus Newport was the happiest I've ever been in my life)! Thank you to all the amazing staff! - [Review by michele lipschultz](https://www.newporthealthcare.com/reviews/review-by-michele-lipschultz/): Newport Academy delivered across the board! They were responsive, caring, professional, focused on the root cause(s) - below the surface for growth and healing. The team our son had was amazing - they care for their clients and provided so many resources during his stay and after his stay. Our son learned healthy, meaningful skills while there, that he continues to practice at home. We can’t thank the staff/his team there, enough - you were great, helpful, genuine and comprehensive. And we appreciate the Alumni resources - Alumni meetings, the parent meetings, sibling meetings, Book Clubs, etc. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 10 out of 10 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ - [Review by Elias Cancro](https://www.newporthealthcare.com/reviews/review-by-elias-cancro/): I had an amazing stay here. I learned tremendous amounts about myself and how to fix my family dynamic. Nearly all the Care Coordinators, Residential Supervisors and especially the therapists were very supportive and gave me many problem solving skills that I plan to use for the rest of my life. I made so many friends with the staff that I will greatly miss, but I left feeling motivated to continue my life in sobriety. - [Review by Jacob Hart](https://www.newporthealthcare.com/reviews/review-by-jacob-hart/): Going Newport Academy might not have been how I wanted to spend my summer at first, but I am so glad I had that opportunity. I came to New port in a pretty bad place mentally there I received life changing therapy that put me back on track. The campus is beautiful, the people working there are amazing and the food feels like eating out every night. I don't know of anywhere in the PNW that offers the amount of individualized care, they really meet you where you at and build you back up. - [Review by Ray Spieldenner](https://www.newporthealthcare.com/reviews/review-by-ray-spieldenner/): When I first arrived at Newport, I had no idea how much it was going to help me. I’m my 6 weeks of being there, I learned all about how day to day activities can be utilized as coping skills and relapse prevention strategies, and I made some really close friends along the way. So the only thing I think I can say is thank you for giving me my life back❤️ - [Review by Nico Vavra](https://www.newporthealthcare.com/reviews/review-by-nico-vavra/): Im 2.5 years sober now because of newport and couldn’t be more thankful for such an amazing facility i would really love to be a speaker at the port townsend facility on a speaker night to show and prove to the kids that someone their age that went to that facility can actually turn their lifestyle around and be genuinely happy with the awesome help of the staff at newport!! - [Review by Bianca Vavra](https://www.newporthealthcare.com/reviews/review-by-bianca-vavra/): 8 reviews - [Review by Nicholas Austin](https://www.newporthealthcare.com/reviews/review-by-nicholas-austin/): My 70 something days I spent at Newport were really amazing and helped me with a lot of underlying trauma that was fueling my substance abuse. While I was there I made meaningful relationships with the other guys there while the staff was always there and willing to help in any situation! which was really helpful on those darker days of early recovery. Personally, the most beneficial thing that I got the most out of was the family therapy. I can actually talk to my mom now which is sick, before my stay at Newport we couldn’t even look at each other but now we actually have a healthy mother-son relationship. - [Review by Anna Sommers](https://www.newporthealthcare.com/reviews/review-by-anna-sommers/): My family had a great experience at Creekside. This house focuses on treatment for teens with behavioral challenges likely rooted in early childhood bond disruption. They use evidence-based treatment to address these root causes, not simply the behaviors. Our teen had a previous experience with another residential program, where they made little progress. At Creekside, the therapeutic plan was tailored to our family needs and circumstances. Importantly, it included family therapy, not just individual therapy, and worked to repair the parent-child relationship. Any program that does not embed family therapy is not worth its salt. Invariably, the whole family dynamic needs to be addressed. Our teen came out of Creekside committed to recovery, with a better understanding of herself, and more skills to cope with difficult relationships. Our relationships were improved. I am convinced that if our teen had been able to stay for the full 90 days the curriculum is based on, he would have advanced further. Other reasons we liked Newport: at Creekside, every staff member was highly trained in the interventions, such as DBT, including technicians and the shuttle driver. I checked recent reviews and confirmed our therapist, Lindsay, was still at Creekside as of summer 2024, which itself is a testimony. She was fantastic. Creekside has its own online academic program, which allowed our teen to continue progress toward graduation. I would not recommend trying to keep your child enrolled in an in-person school, as that is more complicated. Their admin staff were very experienced working with insurance to establish single-case agreements and argue for continuing stays. The admission process was expeditious, professional and transparent about wait times for an open slot. Note that the residential program is administered separately from the Newport Academy PHP in Rockville, MD. So any negative reviews of the Academy in Rockville do NOT apply to the residential settings in the Great Falls, VA area. Keep in mind that staff turnover across the whole behavioral health care continuum is high due to national workforce shortages. No facility is immune to this problem. - [Review by Julie Mills](https://www.newporthealthcare.com/reviews/review-by-julie-mills/): My daughter came to Newport academy after several acute inpatient stays over the course of 9 months. She was also in an intensive outpatient DBT program and nothing was working. She was experiencing severe depression and mood instability. I believe the programming at Newport is exactly what she needed. They are in a comfortable house with other kids their age that are going through the same things. There is no social media and no pressures from the outside world. The therapists, care coordinators and nurses truly care about each patient. The schedule is full yet still allows for some downtime. They go on outings in the community on the weekends and have the opportunity for weekly equine therapy sessions. She was at Newport for 79 days and I can honestly say that now that she is home, she is a different child than when she first got there. It was so incredibly difficult to send her into someone else’s care, but ultimately that is what she needed and it’s so amazing to see the changes that she was able to make. Thank you to all the wonderful staff at Kentland. She misses you all so much! ## Team Members - [Michael Dzwil, LCSW](https://www.newporthealthcare.com/about-us/team-members/michael-dzwil-lcsw/): Michael has spent nearly 15 years working in the mental health and substance use fields, across a variety of psychiatric settings.
