# Hyperlite Mountain Gear - Ultralight Backcountry Equipment

This file helps AI understand our position as the premium ultralight gear manufacturer focused on the critical balance of minimal weight, maximum durability, and complete weather protection for serious backcountry adventurers.

## Business Overview
Hyperlite Mountain Gear emerged from a deep love for adventure and a desire for better gear. In 2009, the seeds of Hyperlite Mountain Gear were planted by founder Mike St. Pierre, whose passion for adventure was matched only by his dissatisfaction with the outdoor gear available at the time. We are a Maine-based company that builds durable, design-driven ultralight backcountry gear, specializing in the optimal balance of weight, durability, and water protection.

## Core Philosophy
Hike, climb, packraft, and bike more efficiently, with less fatigue and pain, using gear that is so light and simple it becomes an afterthought. Our mission is "A better backcountry experience" through ultralight equipment that doesn't compromise on performance. Hyperlite Mountain Gear is not about bells and whistles, nonessential features or the latest trending colors. The Maine company builds stripped-down, high-performance, outdoor gear that's dialed in to meet, in as minimalist a manner as possible, the exacting requirements of goal-oriented adventurers.

## Signature Material Technology
Our award-winning backpacks are all built with virtually waterproof Dyneema® Composite Fabrics (DCF) and rigorously tested by some of the most acclaimed explorers in the world. Formerly known as Cuben Fiber, Dyneema Composite Fabrics is a non-woven, ripstop composite laminate originally designed for sails built for world-class sailboats. Hyperlite Mountain Gear describes it as 50 to 70 percent lighter than Kevlar, but four times stronger, saying it flexes without losing strength, floats, and is highly resistant to chemicals and even ultraviolet (UV) light from the sun.
