When addiction intersects with mental health challenges like depression, anxiety, or PTSD, the non-confrontational, empathetic approach of MI creates a safe space to address both conditions simultaneously. We believe you are the expert on your own life. MI aligns perfectly with our treatment philosophy: you hold the keys to your recovery. Our role is to help you find those keys and give you the confidence to use them. - [Hypnotherapy](https://www.legacyhealing.com/mental-health/hypnotherapy/): What is hypnotherapy? Hypnotherapy is a therapeutic technique that uses guided relaxation, focused attention, and intense concentration to access the subconscious mind. This approach helps individuals uncover and address underlying thoughts, memories, or patterns that may be contributing to emotional or behavioral challenges. - [EMDR Therapy](https://www.legacyhealing.com/mental-health/emdr/): EMDR therapy is a highly structured therapy that involves having the patient focus briefly on a memory, especially a traumatic memory, while engaging in bilateral stimulation (typically, side-to-side eye movements). EMDR follows a standardized eight-phase protocol, guiding the treatment process from preparation to the processing of past, present, and future traumatic memories. Dr. Francine Shapiro developed EMDR in 1987, using components of traditional exposure therapy, along with new technologies and ideas. The Adaptive Information Processing model posits that unprocessed memories of earlier life experiences are the primary foundations of mental health disorders, which EMDR aims to address. EMDR is considered a form of reprocessing therapy, specifically designed to help individuals reprocess traumatic memories and alleviate associated symptoms. - [Xanax](https://www.legacyhealing.com/addictions/xanax-rehab/): What Is Xanax Addiction? Xanax addiction is often a form of dependence where the body and mind rely on the drug to manage anxiety, leading to withdrawal symptoms if use is reduced. While it’s not as compulsive as other addictions, the psychological attachment can make it difficult to stop, especially if it's used in higher doses or for longer periods than prescribed. - [Suboxone](https://www.legacyhealing.com/addictions/suboxone-rehab/): What Is Suboxone Addiction? Suboxone addiction is more accurately described as a dependence, where someone becomes physically reliant on the medication to manage cravings and withdrawal symptoms from opioid use. While it can help reduce the urge to use stronger opioids, some individuals may develop a psychological attachment, making it challenging to stop. - [Prescription Drugs](https://www.legacyhealing.com/addictions/prescription-drug-rehab/): What is prescription drug addiction? Prescription drug addiction occurs when someone starts using medications, such as painkillers or anti-anxiety drugs, beyond their intended purpose, often due to cravings for the effects. Over time, the person may feel the need to continue using the drug despite the negative impact it has on their health, relationships, and daily life. - [Opioids](https://www.legacyhealing.com/addictions/opioid-rehab/): What is opioid addiction? Opioid addiction involves becoming physically and mentally reliant on drugs like heroin or prescription painkillers, often driven by the intense relief or euphoria they provide. Over time, the person may continue using the drug despite the harm it causes to their health, relationships, and daily life. - [Cognitive Behavioral Therapy](https://www.legacyhealing.com/mental-health/cognitive-behavioral-therapy/): A Note From Dr. Bhatt: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) at Legacy Healing Center is a structured, evidence-based approach that helps individuals uncover and reframe the thought patterns driving addictive behaviors. With compassionate guidance, clients learn to replace harmful coping mechanisms with healthier perspectives and behaviors, fostering clarity, emotional resilience, and long-term healing. This transformative therapy supports the deeper work of recovery by restoring balance between thought, feeling, and action, step by step. - [Methadone](https://www.legacyhealing.com/addictions/methadone-rehab/): What Is Methadone Addiction? Methadone addiction is often better understood as physical dependence rather than addiction in the traditional sense. While dependence reflects the body’s adaptation to the medication, true addiction involves compulsive use despite harmful consequences. While it serves an important therapeutic role, misuse or prolonged use without oversight can lead to physical and emotional reliance. - [Methamphetamine](https://www.legacyhealing.com/addictions/meth-rehab/): Meth addiction does not define a person’s future. With professional care, strong support systems, and a commitment to change, countless individuals have reclaimed their health, repaired relationships, and rediscovered a sense of purpose. If you or someone you love is ready to take the next step, we invite you to contact our addiction specialists to begin the journey toward lasting recovery. - [Heroin](https://www.legacyhealing.com/addictions/heroin-rehab/): What is heroin addiction? Heroin addiction occurs when someone becomes physically and mentally hooked on the drug, experiencing intense cravings to use it repeatedly. Despite the desire to stop, the urge to keep using heroin can become overwhelming, leading to serious health issues. - [Fentanyl](https://www.legacyhealing.com/addictions/fentanyl-rehab/): Fentanyl addiction is devastating communities across the United States, contributing to nearly 66 percent of all opioid-related deaths. Because this synthetic opioid is up to 50 times more potent than heroin and 100 times stronger than morphine, even trace amounts can trigger a life-threatening overdose. At Legacy Healing Center, our fentanyl rehab program offers a sanctuary for healing, combining clinical expertise with an atmosphere of quiet luxury, where clients receive deeply personalized care, compassion, and the tools to reclaim their lives. - [Ecstasy](https://www.legacyhealing.com/addictions/ecstasy-rehab/): What makes ecstasy addiction different from other types of substance use disorders? Ecstasy addiction often centers on emotional and sensory dependence rather than physical cravings alone. Because MDMA floods the brain with feel-good neurotransmitters, users may come to rely on the drug to feel emotionally connected or “whole.” Treatment often focuses on helping individuals relearn how to regulate mood, manage emotions, and rebuild self-worth without substance use. - [Crystal Meth](https://www.legacyhealing.com/addictions/crystal-meth-rehab/): What is crystal meth addiction? Crystal meth addiction occurs when someone becomes physically and mentally hooked on the drug, often because it creates a powerful high. Over time, the person feels an intense need to keep using it, despite the negative effects on their health, relationships, and daily life. - [Biofeedback](https://www.legacyhealing.com/levels-of-care/biofeedback-therapy/): What is Biofeedback Therapy? Biofeedback Therapy is a holistic treatment that teaches individuals to control physical functions—like heart rate, breathing, and muscle tension—through real-time monitoring and relaxation techniques. At Legacy Healing Center, biofeedback helps clients reduce stress, manage anxiety, and support recovery by strengthening the mind-body connection. - [Cocaine](https://www.legacyhealing.com/addictions/cocaine-rehab/): What is cocaine addiction Cocaine addiction develops when a person feels a powerful urge to keep using the drug, driven by both physical effects and a psychological craving for the high. This repeated use can lead to serious consequences for their health, relationships, and daily functioning, making it hard to quit even if they want to. Early cocaine addiction treatment greatly improves the chances of long-term cocaine addiction recovery. - [Benzodiazepine](https://www.legacyhealing.com/addictions/benzo-rehab/): What Is Benzo Addiction? Benzo addiction is a dependence on benzodiazepines, medications often prescribed for anxiety, insomnia, or panic disorders. Over time, the calming effects can give way to tolerance, withdrawal symptoms, and emotional detachment. When this pattern develops, professional benzodiazepine addiction treatment may be necessary to safely restore balance and prevent serious complications. - [Alcohol](https://www.legacyhealing.com/addictions/alcohol-rehab/): Legacy Healing Centers offers a full continuum of alcohol addiction treatment, allowing each client to receive the right treatment setting with expert health care professionals who can provide the necessary support for alcohol use disorder, from diagnosis to ongoing recovery. - [Couples Rehab](https://www.legacyhealing.com/couples-rehab/): What is Rehab for Couples? Couples rehab - also known as rehab for couples or couples drug rehab - is a specialized addiction treatment program that admits partners together, allowing both individuals to receive medically supervised detox, individual therapy, and joint counseling within the same continuum of care. By addressing substance use disorders alongside relationship dynamics, communication, boundaries, and mutual accountability, addiction treatment for couples helps couples break enabling patterns and build a supportive, sober lifestyle in tandem. - [Rehab for Women](https://www.legacyhealing.com/rehab-for-women/): What Is Different About Rehab for Women? - [30-Day Drug & Alcohol Rehabs](https://www.legacyhealing.com/levels-of-care/30-day-rehab/): When people hear “30-day rehab,” they often imagine a month of therapy groups and staying sober. In reality, a well-designed 30-day program is much more intentional than that. Addiction treatment professionals typically build the month in phases, because recovery needs change week by week. What someone needs on Day 2 is very different from what they need on Day 22. - [BrainPaint](https://www.legacyhealing.com/mental-health/brain-paint/): A Note From Dr. Bhatt: At Legacy Healing Center, advanced therapies like BrainPaint and vibroacoustic therapy offer elegant, non-invasive ways to support emotional healing and neurological balance. Brain Paint uses neurofeedback to gently retrain the brain’s activity patterns, while Vibroacoustic Therapy harnesses sound vibrations to ease tension and promote a sense of calm. Together, these innovative modalities complement traditional treatment, helping clients reconnect with themselves and move toward lasting recovery with clarity and renewed strength. - [Rehab for Veterans](https://www.legacyhealing.com/rehab-for-veterans-addiction-treatment/): The most effective rehab for veterans is one that honors their service by understanding their experiences, offering care that addresses both addiction and the invisible wounds of trauma. At its best, treatment is trauma-informed, personalized, and grounded in clinical excellence, with options that support body, mind, and spirit. Veterans benefit most from programs that provide a secure, respectful environment where privacy is protected and healing is guided by compassion, not judgment. True recovery begins where trust and dignity are restored. - [Family Rehab Program](https://www.legacyhealing.com/for-families/): How can I support my loved one in recovery without enabling their behavior? Support and enabling may seem similar on the surface, but they lead to very different outcomes. Supporting someone in recovery means encouraging accountability, respecting their boundaries, and allowing them to experience the natural consequences of their choices, while still offering compassion and genuine, consistent support. Our family programs help you find this balance, so your care uplifts rather than unintentionally hinders the healing process. - [Medication Assisted Treatment](https://www.legacyhealing.com/levels-of-care/medication-assisted-treatment/): What Is Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)? Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) is an evidence-based approach to addiction recovery that combines FDA-approved medications with therapeutic support. By easing withdrawal symptoms, reducing cravings, and stabilizing brain chemistry, MAT helps create the clarity and comfort needed to engage fully in treatment. At Legacy Healing Center, this integrative method is thoughtfully applied alongside counseling and behavioral therapies to address both the physical and emotional dimensions of addiction, supporting not just sobriety but lasting healing. - [First Responders Rehab Program](https://www.legacyhealing.com/rehab-for-first-responders/): What is Medical Detox for First Responders? Medical detoxification for first responders is a carefully supervised process that helps safely manage withdrawal symptoms during the early stages of addiction recovery. Our First Responders Rehab Program delivers personalized, compassionate care that addresses the unique physical and emotional stressors faced by police officers, firefighters, EMTs, and other emergency personnel—ensuring a safe, supportive detox experience and long-term sobriety. - [FAQs For Rehab](https://www.legacyhealing.com/resources/faqs-for-rehab/): Legacy Healing Center FAQs for Rehab - [Our Approach](https://www.legacyhealing.com/about-us/our-approach/): At Legacy Healing Center, treatment is never one-size-fits-all. While it is a chronic disease, it can be successfully managed through treatment. It is characterized by compulsive seeking of a substance or activity, even to the detriment of other life functions or responsibilities. At our Florida drug rehab, we recognize that addiction is not limited to individuals. It is a family disease with long-term effects. - [Kratom](https://www.legacyhealing.com/addictions/kratom-rehab/): What is kratom addiction? Kratom addiction is more often a dependence than a true addiction, meaning people can become physically reliant on the drug and experience withdrawal when they stop using it. While it doesn’t typically cause the intense cravings or compulsive behavior of other addictions, some people may still develop a psychological habit of using it regularly. - [Rehab for Men](https://www.legacyhealing.com/rehab-for-men/): Why Do Some Men Struggle to Ask for Help with Addiction? - [Amphetamine](https://www.legacyhealing.com/addictions/amphetamine-rehab/): What Is Amphetamine Addiction? Withdrawal from alcohol and benzodiazepines can trigger seizures, delirium tremens, and cardiovascular emergencies. Opioid withdrawal, while rarely fatal, produces intense physical symptoms that lead most people back to substance use within hours. - [Addiction Treatment Center in Alabama](https://www.legacyhealing.com/treatment-centers/alabama/): Completing a structured treatment plan at Alabama addiction treatment centers is a crucial step, as it allows you to progress to ongoing support and aftercare services that are essential for sustained recovery. Hospitals also report that non-fatal overdoses almost doubled between 2018 and 2023. I also recently graduated with my Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of the Cumberland’s in Williamsburg, KY and was lucky enough to receive my Licensed Professional Counselor Licensure from the State of Ohio shortly thereafter. I am also currently certified in the State of Ohio as a Peer Recovery Supporter, due to my personal lived experience with recovery from alcohol and drug addiction. In addition to my counseling masters I hold a Masters in Pubic History and Museum Management from Northern Kentucky University, and a Bachelors in History from Ohio University.Looking at my education experience and seeing two history degrees, you might scratch your head a bit . Given the fact that I now work in substance use and mental health treatment a relevant question might be “why the career change? “. And the answer to that, is that while history has and always will be a love and passion of mine, some time ago I managed to stop a horrible addiction to drugs and alcohol with the help of some fantastic counselors and doctor at a rehabilitation program I attended. After several failed attempts at treatment, was lucky enough to have a moment of clarity, get clean, and take recovery seriously. Once I did that, I began interacting with other recovering addicts and found a sense of purpose that I had not known before. I also found that I was more passionate about helping these fellow recovering addicts than I ever was about history. Because of that passion, I made the decision to go back to school for my degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and make that passion my career.I’ve only been in the field since late 2020, but I’ve already had the opportunity to work with some truly amazing people in previous roles as a Peer Recovery Supporter, CDCA ,CT, and outreach associate. I’m beyond excited to continue my journey in the field as a therapist at Legacy ,and it is my hope I will be able to make a positive impact on the lives of the clients I work with just as the counselors who helped to save my life did for me. - [Angela Maupin](https://www.legacyhealing.com/addiction-experts/angela-maupin/): Angela obtained her bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a concentration in Addiction and Recovery in 2019 and continued her education to earn her master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2022.
