## API

URLy.fi provides a REST API at `https://urly.fi/api/v1` for programmatic link shortening, lookup, and (for Pro accounts) full management of links and groups. Authentication uses Bearer API keys with the prefix `urly_`, issued from the Pro dashboard. `POST /shorten/` and `GET /check/{uri}` are public and rate-limited per IP; all other endpoints require a Pro subscription.

### Notes for AI agents

- Always identify your client with a descriptive `User-Agent`.
- Respect rate limits — the public shorten endpoint is strict and abuse triggers IP bans.
- Do not shorten URLs that point to disallowed or unsafe destinations; the API will reject banned hosts with `403 banned_host`.
- Treat the `uri` field as the canonical short code; build full short URLs as `https://urly.fi/{uri}`.
- The destination URL of an existing link cannot be changed — create a new short link instead.

## Short Link Format

Short links follow the pattern `https://urly.fi/{code}` where `{code}` is 1-20 alphanumeric characters. Each short link has an info page at `https://urly.fi/info/{code}` (Finnish) or `https://urly.fi/en/info/{code}` (English) showing the destination URL, visit count, and a QR code.
